Lahmacun or turkish pizza is a seasoned meat flatbread popular at Döner shops throughout Germany. I adjusted mine for American ingredients and I use ground beef and bacon for mine. The result is addictive!

    1. Combine the lukewarm water and yeast and allow to bubble up for about 5 minutes. Add other dough ingredients and knead until smooth and elastic. Cover up and allow to rest in a warm spot for 30ish minutes.

      125 g flour
      1 ¾ g active dry yeast
      75 ml water
      ¼ tsp salt

    Preheat Your Oven

    1. In the meantime, preheat your oven (with pizza stone if you have one) to 400° Fahrenheit (or 200° Celsius). If you would like to bake more than 1 pizza at a time, you can simply bake them on baking sheets prepped with parchment paper instead.

    Prepare Meat Topping

    1. Blend together all meat topping ingredients other than the ground meat. You could also use a food processor if you have one. Then add in the ground beef. Set aside.

      20 g bacon
      1 tomatoes
      ¼ handful chopped, fresh parsley
      1 pepperoncini peppers
      ¾ sweet peppers
¼ red, orange or yellow sweet pepper
      ¾ tsp salt
      ½ tsp pepper
      ¾ tsp paprika powder
      ⅕ tsp cumin
      ⅕ tsp dried oregano
      187 ½ g ground beef

    Prepare Other Toppings

    1. Remove core of white cabbage and any wilted leaves. Slice thin and marinate with some oil, vinegar, a little sugar and salt and pepper. Set aside and stir occasionally. Prep all other toppings (I thinly sliced the sweet pepper), marinated and set aside.

      ½ sweet peppers
      ½ tomatoes
      ¼ cucumber
      ¼ small red onion
      37 ½ g feta cheese
      ¾ Tbsp olive oil
      ¼ Tbsp red wine vinegar
      ¼ tsp sugar
      white cabbage
      salt & pepper to taste

    Make the Sauce

    1. Combine all sauce ingredients and set aside.

      25 g greek yogurt
      12 ½ g mayo
      12 ½ g sour cream
      ½ cloves garlic
      salt & pepper to taste

    Bake and Assemble Turkish Pizza

    1. Spread about 3 Tablespoons of meat topping on each rolled out flatbread and bake for about 12 minutes or until the meat is starting to brown and crust is turning golden. Remove from oven and top with sauce, cheese-vegetable salad and marinated cabbage. Top off with a pepperoncini pepper when serving (optional, but they're not very spicy). Make it spicy by adding some sambal! Guten Appetit!
